Across the UK over 4 million children are living in poverty. Too often this poverty and suffering is invisible.

According to government data Thanet has three of the poorest 30 wards in the country. Thanet has the highest level of poverty in Kent

End Child Poverty says that 35% of children in Thanet live below the poverty line – this is over 11,000 families.

The poverty across the island is not uniform with Newington have over 50% of their children in poverty closely followed by Northwood, Margate Central and Salmestone. Many of these families are working multiple jobs but still do not have enough to make ends meet.
